In 1973, Graduated from the Film & Television Institute of India, Poona with Diploma In Cinema (Motion Picture Photography) securing First Rank in First class and winning the Gold Medal for the Best Student in Cinematography.

In the Institute, created history by becoming the only student to receive the coveted ORWO Merit Scholarship for all the three years of the course.
